Shutter Island and SNOW!?!?!

So, Nathan surprised me and came back after the meeting he had to go to in CS yesterday. Who has work meetings at 1 on a darn Sunday?? Stupid bar. Anywho, we decided to go to the movies. :) Based on what rotten tomatoes had to say about 'Shutter Island' I was expecting soooo much more. I have one thing to say really---Leonardo Dicaprio and Martin Scorcese: swing and a miss boys. SWING AND A MISS. The movie starts off very slow, gives subtle hints of jump out at you scariness, teeters near a worthwhile plot, then literally falls off the cliff its been holding on to with one finger and plummets to its death. It wasn't the worst movie ever by any means, but a movie that has been advertising since JULY should deliver a little more than disappointment. I'm just sayin'.

On another note, there is a chance of snow/ice manana and a possible delay or school closure! Cross your fingers!! It's only Tuesday but it sure would make the week go by quickly! :) Hahaha http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail/78232?dayNum=1

Wow..I almost forgot I had a blog..

Not that any of you realistically hang on every word I say, but sorry nonetheless for taking so darn long to update my blog. Here's how the past few months have gone since I last posted.

1) I have now survived 7 months as an 8th Grade ELA teacher on the East Side of SA
2) I have directed two plays. One performed in the Fall and another in the Spring at the UIL MS One Act Play Contest. In the Fall my students performed "Three Sideways Stories from Wayside School" and in the Spring they performed "Act Three, Scene Five." Act Three, Scene Five won an overall award of "Very Good" (that's like 3rd out of 7 in MS terms), and two individual awards (AllStar Crew and AllStar Cast). For my first competition, I'm extremely pleased.
3) Completed all necessary requirements of my Alternative Certification program. I.e. 12 Saturdays, 3 Weekdays, and 14 online supplemental training hours. OMG.
---Not to mention 5 Saturdays devoted to District training. With Football and training, I had exactly 2 Saturdays to myself in the Fall. 2!!!
4) Just when I thought I was getting my Saturdays back----SATURDAY SCHOOL STARTED!!
----REALLY??????? Luckily it's only 8-12 and I do get paid extra for it, but still. OMG.
5) I've lost 15 lbs since the start of school and have another 15 or so to go to get to my goal weight. Yay me!
6) My only weekend day where work is never an option: Sunday. This I reserve for movie day. I've seen so many it's hard to count but some of the favorites: NEW MOON, Book of Eli, AVATAR (stop what you're doing and see this!), Paranormal Activity, Zombieland, and Up in the Air. All highly recommended by me. Now that life has settled a bit I plan to get back into writing movie reviews. Next up, From Paris with Love.

Those are the major milestones. Basically, I work, I sleep, I work some more, and I occasionally play. I'm proud to say I've settled into life in SA and no longer need my Garmin to navigate to basic points of interest! Very exciting! Nathan makes it down here as often as his schedule allows but I'm looking forward to him being here all the time at some point in the near future. Only time will tell. That's all for now but scroll down to see a few pictures.
