This week in movies..I could soo be Ben Lyons...

This week N and I went to 5 movies. Now we LOVE movies but this is a record even for us I think. Quick review of the movies we saw:

The Ugly Truth: Laughed quite a bit, astonished at how much Katherine Heigl likes potty humor, and predicted most of what was going to happen. All in all, I'd recommend it for a good laugh and an escape from reality.

Orphan: OMG, where in the world do I start? One, I will never be adopting a Russian orphan without extensive background research. Two, it's nice to finally go to a scary movie that is about more than gore and boob shots. Three, I'm surprised I slept that night. If you like scary movies, if you like twists, if you think you can figure it out before the movie tells you the answer--then go see this movie. I have been to more movies than I will ever be able to count and I NEVER saw this coming. I'm still replaying it in my head almost a week later.

G-Force: N and I happen to love 3-D movies. The previews were kinda cute, not to mention they got the voices of some A-List actors. Plot wasn't too complicated (gotta make it simple for the kiddos), but worth the $3.50 we paid to see it. General consensus: had it not been for the the 3-D specs we probably coulda waited for the DVD but we weren't disappointed at the experience.

Funny People: How in the world did Hollywood create a movie with most of this generations comedic legends, put the word 'funny' in the title, and still not be HILARIOUS???? Yes, it had it's moments (most of which we knew were coming from the previews) and some cameos you wouldn't expect, BUT I think I've laughed more at far less well thought out movies. It was a little depressing, frustrating, and then it ended. I say---rent it unless you've seen everything else or are Adam Sandler's biggest fan.

The Collector: Have you seen SAW I, II, III, IV, V? Well then you've seen this movie. Except those were better. Basically, there are booby traps around every corner, basically everyone dies gruesomely (one chick had her mouth sewn shut, then stomach sliced open, place in a hot bath tub, and left to bleed out), and the killer doesn't die! Even when a chandelier of knives falls on him! My words of advice to anyone in a horror movie---DO NOT run UP the stairs, never say you'll be right back, and always shoot the killer in the head and the heart before letting your guard down!! My words of advice to anyone thinking of seeing this---DON'T waste your money, you'll leave feeling jilted and frustrated.

We're thinking of seeing 'The Hurt Locker' sometime and I'd really love to see "500 Days of Summer' but it's not showing in CS. Though the next movie review will probably be of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra since it comes out next Friday and I've already promised I'll go.
